Drain plug won't come out, I have no lever assembly and no basement?
My drain is very simple, lift up to drain water, turn to close. The problem is I can't remove the plug, it just turns and turns. My tub is so clogged . I have no lever assembly and it is not broken, because I have another tub with the same set up. How is this supposed to come out to unclog? How would I even replace something like this without cracking the tub? I can't believe something is manufactured this way. Help!
Just under the top of that plug there should be a set screw. It is more than likely an Allen screw. Back that screw out and lift. (Don't back it out all the way. You might lose it down the drain.)
Depending on how old the drain is, you may have to pry upwards with something. Believe it or not I have used a claw hammer for that.
This should open your path for your snake. If you can't get it apart then try going through the vent hole like someone pointed out.
