Xerox pattern onto PnP Blue paper. Transfer to iron with a clothes iron set to medium. (Iron through 2-3 sheets of paper so as not to burn the PnP. Go to Radio Shack and buy a bottle of circuit board etchant. Suspend piece in a shallow glass pan with pattern down. Pour in etchant. Agitate pan. Do this outside to avoid fumes. Neutralize etchant with baking soda. Remove PnP with acetone.
okay, so you don't like chemicals. Second choice: go to a sign shop and buy some of their vinyl stick on material. Wipe metal of with alcohol. Stick on sign material. Cut out pattern with an exacto. Get someone to sanblast it for you. This will only work if the metal is sufficiently thick. (so you don't sandblast right though it.)
If it were easy, everyone would be doing it, right?
